About Me

All sorts of multimedia excite me, and I pride myself in continuously developing my range of expertise in all areas of journalism. In and out of school I've always got a camera in hand, and spend countless hours working towards my journalism career. In extra free time I love playing lacrosse, training jiu jitsu, hiking, and spending time with the people I love.

My Story

Despite never knowing exactly what I wanted to do, I always had a great passion for such a large variety of things. When I finally discovered journalism, it gave me somewhere to put all that passion and showed me, in so many ways, how to channel it and create something amazing out of it.

I started at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts as a theatre major. I was shocked I had gotten in and had so much fun standing on a stage getting to perform to connect with people. But something was always missing. Amidst the other theatre students, I never felt stand-out or even as committed as they were. I never felt that overwhelming feeling that it was my life's journey and knew it could never one day become my career.

Then, towards the end of my freshman year my English teacher talked to me about a Multimedia Arts and Communications major being created at my school. I had always wanted to try out journalism, and even had wished it would've been a major somewhere to do so. When she talked to me about it not only did I jump at the opportunity, but I also felt like I could finally stand out somewhere. And after being the first to minor in it my sophomore year, I finally did know what I wanted to do. I still had that desire to do it all, but I realized journalism was doing it all. I could use journalism to put emphasis on what I found important and my favorite things, and in the process, journalism became my favorite thing. I was able to take that storytelling aspect from theatre that I loved and really use it for things that mattered, to me and to the world. In deciding for my junior year, I dropped theatre, and changed my major to Multimedia Arts and Communications (MAC.) Next year I will be the first MAC major to graduate from my school, only standing alongside my best friend, the one other MAC major of our class.

It has not been an easy road, but it has been so rewarding. Getting to be a part of pioneering and creating something that I hope one day will go from being a class of two people in it, to growing into the hundreds of kids that make up the other majors at my school, means so much to me. I work hard every day to help build not only for my own future, but also for the future of the program I dedicate myself to and will soon have to say goodbye to. I know I've made the right decision, and I can't wait to see where both of these futures go.
